There are many popular, tourist-filled vacation spots in the world. Sometimes when you go on trip, you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle. There are many hidden vacation spots that haven’t been overtaken by pushy vacationers and loud children.  We found five locations that are off the beaten path that will offer the peace and tranquility you have been yearning for from a getaway.

Anguilla, Caribbean

With over 33 beaches on this beautiful Caribbean Island, you won’t have any problem finding a quiet beach to catch some rays.  Anguilla is a wonderful place to go if you just want to relax and get away from it all – thanks to the fact they do not have direct flights or cruise ports. Don’t forget to visit a few of the local rum shacks and listen to live reggae music while you are there!

Rangiroa, French Polynesia

If you are craving turquoise waters but want to branch away from the Caribbean, Rangiroa is an exotic island you must visit! Although you may not have heard of Rangiora, it happens to be the second largest atoll in the world.  An Atoll is a ring-shaped coral reef that surrounds a lagoon which makes it a divers dream.  If diving isn’t your cup of tea, there are other beach centered activities and even a working pearl farm you can visit.

Santa Barbara, California

While Napa is a wonderful place to visit and taste wine, many can be turned off by how commercialized it has become.  If you are looking for something a bit more off the beaten path or want to try something different, Santa Barbara, California is an excellent option. Santa Barbara has more edge than Napa while offering wonderful wine tasting rooms, shopping, plus the beach!

Schonau AM Konigsee, Germany

If you are looking for jaw dropping scenery coupled with winter sports, Schonau AM Konigsee is for you.  This area, which is near the Austrian border is known for its health retreats as well. Since Schonau AM Konigsee is so close to several countries it is a great location to visit if you want to save money but visit many locations during one vacation.  If you love to ski or mountain climb, you will be in your element in this beautiful German village.

Naxos, Greece

Are you looking for a taste of authentic Greek culture and cuisine?  Naxos, Greece will give you the opportunity to experience traditional Greek charm.  The area is also known for its outdoor activities and delicious fresh seafood.  While Santorini may be the most famous spot in Greece, which is also known as one of the luckiest countries in the world, this area is a wonderful alternative because it is off the beaten path.
